MONOCHROME VIEWS OF THE NORTH SEA

Circular Dynamics is a black and white landscape portrait of the coastline from the Dutch island Texel to the German island Sylt. This meanwhile extensive series shows a landscape that is constantly changing, because of a restless North Sea, the forces of waves, storms and tides, that continually reshape the coastlines. The power of water movement and wind create iconic scenes, sometimes literally from one moment to the next, always inspiring unique perspectives. 

While these dynamic sceneries, composed by moving sand, clouds and light, are just momentarily, the embedded uniqueness is irretrievable. In a way you feel reminded, that the North Sea coastline and even the islands themselves are transitory, subject to dramatic change. Even more so, due to the climate change, continuously rising sea levels and an increasing number of heavy storm surges…
